(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) . TOKYO, March 31. The European Economic Community was ready to reopen negotiations for a trade pact with Japan, Mr Albert Borchette, a member of the E.E.C. Commission said in [Tokyo yesterday. Mr Borchette, who is also I in charge of the Community’s public relations, said that in any agreement the E.E.C. i would need some form of safeguard clause enabling Japanese imports to be restricted in an emergency. Mr Borchette is in Japan for 10 days to prepare for the setting up of an E.E.C. information office in Tokyo, to open next September.
