FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A shallow depression near Fiordland is moving south-east. Forecast: . Canterbury.—Light to .moderate winds from the northerly quarter; showers in the Alps, elsewhere fine and warm. Nelson and Marlborough.—Fresh northwesterlies at times about Cook Strait, elsewhere light or moderate variable winds; mainly fine and warm, but a lew showers likely’ about the ranges. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds; occasional showers, but long fair periods; mild. Outlook.—Showers on the West Coast but fine elsewhere.
