Solo Parents meeting
Mrs B. Sparks and Mrs D. Woods, two foundation members of Solo Parents (Canterbury) were awarded associate membership of the organisation at its annual meeting on Monday evening. The national president of Solo Parents (Mr R. Hardie) spoke at the meeting of the work done by the national body in the last year, and said that the national conference would be held on April 22 and 23. Mr Hardie resigned from his position of Canterbury president of the association, M. P. Berry being elected to take his place.
Other officers elected were: patron, Mr Justice Macarthur; vice - presidents, Mrs M. Mathieson and Mr A. Howie; secretary-treasurer, Mrs L. Visser; committee, Mesdames P. Gordon, Z. Matthews, D. Wright, A. Hepburn, B. Ormandy, C. van Belkom, and R. Brookman, Messrs J. Carr, P. De Lacey, B. Pope, F. Hitchins, H. Vanden Hoven, L. Bohm, and A. Orr.
