Gibson not coming

(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The brilliant Irish centre, M. C. H. Gibson, will not now be available to play in the series of special Rugby matches in aid of the Commonwealth Games fund. The New Zealand Rugby Union yesterday received a cable from Gibson saying he very much regretted that urgent business at home had forced his withdrawal from the series. He said a letter would explain in fuller detail why he was not able to eome.

Gibson, one of the stars of the British Lions in New Zealand last year, and a leading Irish player for the last nine years, Is a lawyer in Belfast. The secretary of the New Zealand union (Mr R. E. Morgan) said that because of the time factor, it would not be possible to get a replacement player from overseas. The other five overseas players will arrive in Christchurch next Tuesday.
