£l200 letter
The Dickens House Museum paid £l2OO at Sotheby’s yesterday for what is probably the only surviving letter written by Charles Dickens during his courtship of Maria Beadnell, when he was 19. It had been believed that no correspondence between the author and his first love had survived from their courtship. — London, March 29.
