Lord Astor’s estate

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Mar. 23. Lord Astor, the newspaper magnate who controlled “The Times” for more than 40 years, left more than £400,000 in his will, but the Government will not receive one penny of the estate in death duties because Lord Astor was domiciled in Cannes, in the south of France, when he died last July, at the age of 85. He was widely known for his charitable gifts, among them, £300,000 to the Middlesex Hospital, London, for the building of a nurses’ home, and £500,000 for the same hospital’s medical school.
