Novel effects in Dior’s fur coats

Christian Dior completely outmodes classic fur coats in a showing of sumptuous furs previewed in Paris for the 1973 winter.

Super luxury coats are handled as casually as fabrics with insets or appliques of contrasting colours, tartans in every known pattern, and patchwork at the highest echelon in mink or sable. Prices are just as high as the fashion approach. Several of the most extravagant models, like double ensembles with a shortsleeved fulllength top coat of mink worn over a contrasting coloured long-sleeved mink jacket, cost about $8035. The dominant new ideas in this fanciful collection shown are contrasting furs and opposing colours. There are miles of mink skins handled in bright-coloured Bayedere stripes dyed brilliant hues

such as orange, forest green, and burgundy, or patchwork effects alternating with squares of mink and broadtail.

Evening furs are treated : with embroidery, like a leopardskin cardigan jacket with i each dark spot centred with I a black jet medallion. If rare spotted furs such as i Somali panther, jaguar from i the Amazon, Mexican and .
