HEARING ON HOPPERS
The Waterfront Industry Tribunal, consisting, of Judge K. G. Archer (chairman), Messrs W. A. Fox and W. E. Hodges (members), met in Christchurch yesterday to hear submissions on the inter-union dispute over the mobile hoppers at Lyttelton. The demarcation dispute arose at Lyttelton in January when the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s two new mobile hoppers were brought into use. Both the Lyttelton Harbour Board Employees’ Union and the Lyttelton Waterside Workers’ Union claimed the right to wofk the hopper mechanism. The tribunal reserved its decision after hearing submissions from the Port Employers* Association, the Lyttelton Harbour Board, the Lyttelton Waterside Workers’ Union and the Lyttelton Harbour Board Employees’ i Union.
