FEE CUT TO $190
Transfer of Marley
Christchurch United has won its appeal against the size of the fee that New Brighton had asked for the transfer of its striker, A. Marley. Brighton sought $438. This sum was upheld by the Canterbury Football Association, but .on the appeal of Christchurch United, the fee has been reduced to $l9O by the New Zealand Football Association.
This information is contained in the minutes of the N.Z.FA. meeting sent to the Canterbury F.A. Brighton’s suggested fee was made up of $3BO the club paid towards Marley’s fares from England last year and $5B for chiropratic treatment to an injured back. The did not accept the cost of chiropractic treatment as an extraordinary expense under the terms laid
down as policy for the transfer of amateur players. It considered that the $3BO paid for travelling, fees should be considered over a twoyear period, and that as Marley had been a Brighton member for the major part of one year, a sum of $l9O was a just and proper transfer fee to be asked.
