GOOD GAINS BY LESS ACTIVE STOCKS; LEADERS FIRMER
Good gains by a number of the less active stocks gave the New Zealand market a brighter tone in more active trading yesterday. However, the leaders were slightly firmer in mixed trading.
Rheem showed a 25c rise to 175 c after adjusting for the dividend and one-for-four bonus issue. The shares of the specialised manufacturers are closely held. A.G.S. was very strong in its section of the market, moving up 7c to 205 c, but U.D.C. lost another 5c at 205 c. The other finance companies were steady. Crothall, which has enjoyed a seller’s market, particularly since the last report, gained 10c to 240 c. Wilson Neill seemed un-

Steel at 120 c showed a rise of 5c each. National Insurance rose 5c to 450 c and New Zealand Insurance was 1c higher at 331 c, but South British eased the same amount to 557 c.
