Authors of report
Sir Thaddeus McCarthy (above) was chairman of the Royal Commission on Social Security, and the members were Sir Alan Danks, Dr J. O. Mercer (who died last December), Mrs M. A. Tiller, and Mr John Turnbull. The commission began hearing submissions in February, 1970, sat for 52 days, and received 321 written submissions. Its report runs to 600, pages and makes more than 100 recommendations.
