DIRECTOR LEAVES
Mr F. G. Heard, director of ' the Christian World Service Division of the National i Council of Churches in New > Zealand, was bidden farewell > by the N.GC. executive at a special function at Alders- - gate. He has taken up the posis bon of director of the Outi ward Bound School at i Anakiwa. Mr Heard worked with the ; N.GG first as secretary for 1 Inter-Church Aid and then as s director of the overseas aid > department for six years. During his time as director, he was responsible for raising more than $1 million m New Zealand for relief and aid projects overseas, and 84 per cent of the total income of the N.GC. He also interviewed candidates for positions as fraternal workers, attended international conferences of I inter-church aid workers, and i assisted the Commission on • World Mission and Service to select each year's project ’ list for which the Christmas Appeal is launched. m his farewell address the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt Rev. W. A. Pyatt) said that Mr Heard and his work had been appreciated by the churches.
An appointment as director has not yet been made.
