Supreme Court CHARGE OF RAPE

Russell George Becks, aged' 23, a freezing worker, was found guilty by a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday on a charge of rape at Kaiapoi on December 16. Mr Justice Wilson remanded Becks in custody to March 10 for sentence. Messrs N. W. Williamson and P. J. McKay appeared for the Crown and Messrs P. J. Boyle and E. W. Gartrell for the accused.
The jury took an hour and a half to reach its verdict.
The trial began on Tuesday and the Crown called 10 witnesses.
