Stablemates will miss Brisbane
(N.Z.P.A. Stay Correspondent) SYDNEY. The Yaldhurst trainer, G. B. Noble, has decided to continue campaigning his team in Australia’s southern states this season rather than travel north for the InterDominion series in May.
Noble said yesterday that two of his horses, Rain Again and Garcon Roux, had been set back by falls at Melbourne last month, and because they would need easing along to regain their confidence he had decided against going to Brisbane. Both Rain Again and Garcon Roux, although now recovering from their falls, would be taken along quieUy, with starts at matinee meetings and gym khanas. Garcon Roux’s mishap also upset Noble’s plans to run the pacer in Friday night’s Miracle Mlle at Harold Park in Sydney.
Noble said that the mile had been his main mission when he brought his team to Australia, and after winning the Auckland Cup and a flying mile in “2mln Isec in a walk” before leaving, he had been confident Garcon
Roux would be a strong contender in the $32,500 Sydney race. “But the Melbourne setback put paid to those plans,” Noble said. Both Garcon Roux and Rain Again will now be prepared with the Lord Mayor’s Cup. at Harpld Park early next month, in mind. While Noble has had .bad luck with Garcon Roux and: Rain Again, he has high hopes for bis star mly, Roydon Roux. Roydon Roux, winner of the Great Northern Derby, won at Harold Park last Friday night and will now be prepared foi- the New South Wales Pacer’s Derby; heats for which will be run on Friday week, and next month’s Victorian Oaks in Melbourne. Noble’s fourth horse, Valencia, is also coming along . well. Noble said he hoped; to start her soon in free-for-all mobile start events at Harold Park.
