Rex Harrison will star in a television production of “Don Quixote,” in the first co-production of its kind between the 8.8. C. and an American film company, Universal Pictures. The production, to be partly financed by Universal, will be given an uninterrupted two-hour screening, in colour, on 8.8. C.-1, and will later be televised in America. “Don Quixote” will begin shooting on locations on the glains of Mancha in Spain, eginning soon. Duration of the shooting schedule is two months. The 8.8. C.-Universal version of “Don Quixote” will follow the classic Cervantes story and will be adapted by Clive Exton. There will be no conflict with the musical version of “Don Quixote, Man of La Mancha,” now in production in Rome. The 8.8. C.-Universal production will be directed by the Canadian director Alvin Rakoff. No other actors have been cast in the production as yet. Rex Harrison was last seen on television last year when he made his first dramatic appearance on television in the title role of Anton Chekov’s "Platvinov,” for the 8.8.C.’s “Play of the Month.” This was the same role for which he was awarded the “Evening Standard” drama award as best actor of the year when he starred in the play -at the Royal Court Theatre in 1960.
