THEME FOR LENT
‘Abolish the laity’ * “Abolish the laity,” is the theme for Lent at St James ' Anglican Church in Riccar- ’ ton. The vicar of St James, the ' Rev. J. Vincent, said that the militancy of the title gave ' no cause for alarm. "We gave it that name on : the grounds that many people make too much of a distinc- : tion between the clergy and ; the laity. In point of fact there is very little distinction at all,” he said. “For all the difference there i should be, we could have . made our theme: ’Abolish the I clergy’.” 1 Mr Vincent said that the i clergy and the laity should be sharing the same mission.
