Good shooting
Twenty-seven shooters braved the cold southerly wind and heavy rain on Sunday to take part in the opening day of the Ashburton Gun Club’s season. Shooters came from as far north as Belfast, and as far south as Twizel for the competition, which saw good shooting under the poor conditions. Although only a few shot possibles, most of the scores were only one or two down. Results were:— 10-blrd eye-opener: A. Etheridge (Ash.), R. F. Everett & Tate (Ash.), L. Hastie (Twizel), K. Busch (Ash.), all shot 10. 10blrd President’s Trophy: M. Thian (Waibora) 1, G. Read (Ash.), 2, A. Schluter (Ash.), 3. 10-blrd sweep: W. Johnson (Ash.), L. Hastie (Twizel), KBusch (Ash.), G. Searle (Belfast), all shot 10. 5-pair double rise: W. Johnson (Ash.), R. J. Martin (Methven), G. Searle (Belfast), all shot 9. Mlss-and-out: G Read (Ash.), 1, R. F. Everett 2, M. Titian (Waibora)
