Danish entry referendum
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) COPENHAGEN, March 8.
The Danish Prime Minister (Mr Krag) announced today that the country’s referendum on joining the European Common Market will be held on October 2. It will be binding on both Government and Parliament.
Last Saturday, Mr Krag said that he favoured holding the referendum after a similar one in Norway, due in September; his Government should show respect for the many people who wanted to know what Norway’s position would be, he said. It is considered likely that the Norwegians will reject membership, and that this will have a strong influence on the Danish poll.
