SIDE OUT FOR 41

N.Z. women in control

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) EAST LONDON.

New Zealand’s touring women cricketers ended the first day of their match against a South African XI in a solid position, after bundling the home side out for 41 in its first innings. Replying with 164 for five declared, New Zealand put the South Africans in again and at stumps they had lost two for 72. It took New Zealand only 105 minutes to dismiss the South Africans in their first innings, largely through the efforts of P. Carrick, who took four for seven from 9.1 overs. At one stage the home side lost five wickets for three runs as it crumbled from 21 for three to 24 for seven. Scores: South African XI 41 (Carrick 4/7) and 72/2, New Zealand 164/5 declared (J, Doull 80).
