33 bowlers qualify
Thirty-three of the 90 teams which entered the Christchurch Women’s Bowling Centre’s open fours tournament yesterday secured the fourth win necessary to qualify for post-section play. The event will continue today on the Woolston WMC.’s greens and it is expected that by the end of the day four teams will remain. The skips to qualify were: I Mesdames L. Wedderall (Spreydon), J. Boote (Beckenham), E. Silvester (Shirley), M. Burrell (South Brighton), A. Beasley (Linwood), M. Happer (Dunsandel), J. Walker (Shirley), M. Grinswood (St Albans), D. Horne (Beckenham), I. Muirson (Linwood), J. Papps (Mount Pleasant), B. Coombes (Riccarton Women’s), D. Rossiter (Burwood), T. Greenwood (Linwood), A. Whiting (Woolston W.M.C.), E. Brown (Spreydon). A. Brown (Fendalton), N. Morrison (Burnside), E. Mair (United), L. Carson (Woolston), E. Milne (Woolston W.M.C.), M. Shuttleworth (Cashmere), E. Warren (Barrington), R. Hobbs (St Martins), A.' Forbes (Bur wood), M. Brady (Fendalton), H. Hawse (St Albans), A. Anderson (St Martins), J. Caldwell (Mona Vale), N. Leech (Ranglora), D. McCreanor (Riccarton Women’s), M. Henderson (St Albans) and Miss M. McAra (Meadowbank).
Zeatand’s top gymnasts, Mrs J. Andersen (Napier), is to retire from the competitive side of the sport because of a recurring back injury. She. attended the 1970 world championships in Jugoslavia.
Soccer—AU eight English division three and four soccer matches scheduled to be played yesterday were postponed because of the restrictions on iftood lighting. _______
