League wing retires
league because of business commitments. A former Rugby union international wing, Cleary also represented Australia as an athlete and won the bronze medal in the 100 yards sprint at the 1962 Commonwealth Games in Perth. Later that year he made his debut for the Kangaroos against Great Britain, travelled to Britain and France in 1963-64 and played in home series against France and New Zealand. After a long career with the South Sydney club, Cleary transferred to Eastern Suburbs last season.
