Monastic fancied
“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. A track specialist and the winner of the race last year, Monastic might return to the winning list when he tackles the $6OOO Wanganui Gold Cup, first leg of the Wanganui T.A.B. double tomorrow.
Whatever his form may be, Monastic must always come' into consideration every time he races at Wanganui. He was trained there before D Grubb shifted his team to Feilding and has won 10 races on the course.
A seven-year-old by Golden Abbey, Monastic’s' latest efforts point to him running a bold race. He was an improvers’ fourth in the Ashhurst Cup and then on the final day of Trentham, when ridden by R. Skelton, got up to run fifth. He should improve a ton on those two races.
