REUNION AT RAPAKI
About 170 descendants of two early Rapaki settlers attended a family reunion at Rapaki during the week-end. Activities included a banquet and social gathering and a church service conducted in both English and Maori. The descendants were paying tribute to the memory of George William Arthur Couch and Catherine Kiti Couch. Mr Couch came to Lyttelton from England in 1882 and set up a grocery at Lyttelton. He married Catherine Paipeta in 1892 and the couple settled at Rapaki.
