Stead out, Bull in
One change has been made in the Canterbury team for its final shield match, against Central Districts at Nelson on Friday. D. W. Stead is not available, and he has been replaced by C. L. Bull, who has been captain of the Canterbury B team this season.
Canterbury’s team to play in the Rothman’s interprovincial tournament at Dunedin, starting on January 24, is: R. W. Fulton (captain), P. R. Joyce, J. W. Calder, S. T. Chambers, A. E. Collins, P. G. D’Augergne, C. B. Galwey (South Canterbury), R. E. Gearry, R. J. Hadlee, J. F. Jackson, R. Sowden (North Canterbury), J. G.-Wright.
Soccer.—Auckland held the touring West German soccer team, Hertha 03 Berlin, to a 1-0 win at Newmarket Park on Saturday night. Golf.—The South African, R. Cole, won the Transvaal open golf tournament on Saturday, beating his countryman, T. Britz, on the first hole of a “sudden death” play-off.
