CHARGE LAID BY DISNEY

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 9.

Disney Productions, Ltd, has brought a Federal Court suit against a comic-book firm, charging it with trying to destroy the Disney image. Hell Comics, in a comic book “Air Pirates Funnies,” is accused of turning such familiar characters as Mickey and Minnie Mouse into sex exhibitionists and Donald Duck into a peeping tom. This assault, upon the “image of innocent delightfulness,” which Disney says it has sought to build up over the years, is calculated to “interfere with and, if possible, to destroy the business of plaintiff and the assets of said business,” says the suit, which seeks $435,000 damages.

Those named as defiling Disney characters were Hell Comics, the publishers, four artists and 50 “John Does” (unnamed persons). At the last firm report, in October, 1970, Disney assets were $267.6m.
