Miss Davis in hospital
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SAN JOSE, January 9. Angela Davis, who recently complained that her health was deteriorating from her long confinement while awaiting trial, has been admitted to hospital for an undetermined illness. Miss Davis filed an affidavit from prison last year saying that continued confinement was detrimental to “my physical health, mental outlook and general capability to contribute to my legal defence.” The former philosophy instructor and avowed Communist has spent more than 14 months imprisoned awaiting trial, which is now set to begin on January 31.
