(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent/ WASHINGTON.

The New Zealand golfers R. J. Charles and J. M. Lister will compete for record prize money when they rejoin the American professional Golfers’ Association tour in 1972. The P.G.A. announced last evening that the total prize money will be about $7.4m—5341,500 more than this! year.

The tour will cover 45 major tournaments, 18 smaller ones, and four events staged in the Caribbean. The biggest single amount available at any one tournament will be $260,000 for the newly-scheduled Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic in Lauderhill, Florida, from February 24 to 27. At least four other tournaments will offer $200,000 or more in prize money, among them the $250,000 Westchester Classic, previously the richest tournament on the tour.
