NATIONAL ARCHERY

Family team from Aust.

A New South Wales family will represent Australia in the individual events and the team trophy shoot at the New Zealand archery championships at Lincoln College, from January 2 to 8.

F. Garvin, who was nominated for the New Zealand trip after his outstanding performance at the recent Sydney championships, where he won the target, clout, and field events, will be accompanied by his wife and their 16-year-old son, Paul.

The reigning national champion, R. Sampson (Hastings) and Mrs S. Richards (Whangarei) will defend their titles in the respective men’s and women’s open divisions. About 60 archers, including eight former champions, have entered the championships.

K. Boyd (Ashburton), the intermediate title-holder, heads a strong entry in this grade, but two Dunedin competitors are the only contestants for the junior boys’ championship.
