Speculation
on Concorde (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 6. British newspapers speculated today that the price of the Concorde jet airliner might be cut by £2m to boost sales prospects. The reports precede another meeting tomorrow between the Minister for Aerospace. (Mr Frederick Corfleld) and the French Minister of Transport (Mr Jean Chamant). Previous speculation has suggested that the BritishFrench supersonic airliner might sell for about £l2m an aircraft
Sixteen airlines hold options to buy the Concorde, and two London newspapers, the "Observer” and the “Sunday Telegraph,” said yesterday that the suggested price reduction might be achieved by writing off repayment of part of the research and development costs.
Today, the Department of Trade and Industry had no comment to make.
