Kawasaki's biggest

fTHE first models of Kawasaki’s new 750 c.c. three-cylinder road machines will be arriving in New Zealand this month and according to the importers, Laurie Summers (Wholesale), Ltd, at least two will be used in production racing events. If the success of the Japanese concern’s 500 c.c. Mach 111 is anything to go by, the bigger machine could well sweep all before it.

Designated the Mach IV 750 H2, the biggest model in the Kawasaki range has a claimed 74 brake horsepower and can cover the quarter mile in 12sec from a standing start. Top speed is in the vicinity of 126 miles an hour.

The H2 is similar in appearance to the recently announced 350 c.c. model, now starting to appear in some numbers on New Zealand roads. However, whereas the smaller

machine has a conventional drum brake at the front, the H2 is fitted with a hydraulic disc. It is also equipped with the proven capacitor discharge ignition system, which gives up to 24,000 sparks a minute. The surface gap plugs never need cleaning and can fire through a coating of pure oil. The manufacturers claim that plug life is doubled.
