Air New Zealand’s great record

Air New Zealand, a veteran pacing gelding, enjoyed two distinctions at Yonkers Raceway last month. At 13, he was the oldest horse in competition at the raceway, and, having won at four successive starts, he had the longest winning sequence on the course this year.

Air New Zealand was sold to the United States in 1967 with winnings of $17,982 in this country. He has won $115,922 for three American owners, having won 30 of 169 starts and he has a mile mark of 2:2 3-5 returned when he was a nine-year-old. Originally registered as Rannack Song, he was renamed Air New Zealand when bought by E. Cobb. He was claimed by the Kingsley Stable, which later sold him for $lO,OOO.

He is at present being trained by W. Dracksley, who considers Km a great old horse. “He 'trains and races regularly and earns money consistently," he said recently. “A horse is permitted to compete until the end of the season in which he reaches 14 and I see no reason why Air New Zealand will not continue to race in 1972.” Other New Zealand winner!
