New missile approved
6V.Z. PA.-Heater— Copyright) WASHINGTON, Dec. 1. The United States Defence Department has approved production of a new generation of submarine-launched missiles with a range of up to 6000 miles. A s2sm contract has gone to the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company for the project. The new missile will have a range more than twice that of the Poseidon multiplewarhead system. A submarine-fired longrange missile has been top priority in Pentagon planning for more than two years, and its production may involve a new class of submarine.
