Reprieve for home-brewers
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Nov. 30. The growing legion of home-brewers in New South Wales are safe for the moment. Customs officials discounted brewery warnings that amateurs were robbing the Federal Government of up to s2om a year in uncollected excise.
In spite of a heavy sale of Christmas home-brewing kits, the Customs Department is not greatly concerned. One official said that most homebrewers made beer below the legal limit of 2 per cent proof spirit, but he gave a warning that flagrant offenders Would be prosecuted and could be fined $2OO. »■
