Melbourne’s future

A master plan for the development of Melbourne into the twenty-first century has been disclosed.
It is for the city to grow out along seven “corridors,” each from four to six miles wide and separated by green belts of parkland. If implemented, the scheme will alter Melbourne’s growth pattern radically in the next 30 years. It allows for a population of 4.7 million people in the city and suburbs? by the year 2000.
