More births in November
Increases in the number of births, deaths and marriage notices issued in Christchurch last month over those for November, 1970, are shown in figures given yesterday by the Registrar of" Births, Deaths and Marriages. November’s figures (with those for the previous November in parenthesis) were: Births, 539 (529): deaths 226 (214); marriage notices issued, 301 (292); marriages in the registry office, 42 (44). The total number of births, marriage notices issued, and those performed by the registrar to date this year, all show an increase on the same time last year. This year’s figures, with those for the corresponding period in parenthesis, are: 5696 (5495); marriage notices issued, 2860 (2665); marriages performed in registry office, 536 (488). There have been 2554 deaths this year, 76 fewer than at the same time last year. Lottery draw Golden Kiwi No. 491 will be drawn tomorrow.—(P.A.)
