The Australian teen-age swimming star, Shane Gould, will hold all five women’s world freestyle swimming records, from 100 metres to 1500 metres, by the end of February,, according to her coach, Mr Forbes Carlile. “She could even do it in the next couple of weeks,” Mr Carlile said at the week-end, after Miss Gould had lowered her own 200 metres record to 2min 6.ssec. The 15-year-old Miss Gould now holds the world 200 metres and 400 metres records and shares the 100 metres record with the former Australian Olympic champion, Dawn Fraser. She has clocked 4min 21.1 sec for the 400 metres and 58.9 sec for the 100 metres. Mr Carlile said that Miss Gould might capture the remaining two world records, over 1500 and 800 metres, in the next two weeks. “Shane will be competing in a top level 800 metres event next Friday night She will also swim in a 1500 metres event the following week,” he said.
