Sixth-form passes

“Very few sixth form students will leave with nothing,” said Miss R. J. Prisk, the headmistress of Christchurch Girls’ High School, at a meeting of the school’s board of governors.

Miss Prisk said that 109 of the 151 students taking the University Entrance course—--72.1 per cent—were accredited, 82 passed the sixth form certificate in five subjects, 32 in four subjects and 28 in one to three subjects. There were 14 candidates for scholarship examinations and 50 candidates for bursary examinations, she said.

Asked if she had any reservations about the grading of the sixth form certificate passes, Miss Prisk said that the "cut-off between C and D passes” worried her. “A lot of these Ds could justifiably feel hard done by," 'she said.
