Hopes of trade in Rhodesia
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. The New Zealand Bureau of Importers and Exporters welcomed—“in keeping with its policy of freedom of world trade”—the prospect of the removal of trade embargoes on Rhodesia. The secretary of the Wellington committee (Mr P. A. Verry) said such a removal would open additional markets for New Zealand exporters, particularly in automo-
tive parts and the developing aircraft industry. A Dairy Board spokesman] said that Rhodesia had not only developed a highlyorganised and efficient aairy industry over the years, but had also made fairly substantial purchases from New Zealand before the sanctions were imposed. “With the lifting of the sanctions we would hope to resume this form of trading relationship,” he said.
