A FEW GOOD RISES ON MIXED AND UNCERTAIN MARKET

Although a few good rises were shown in mixed trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday the tone of the market was generally easier. The timber industry leaders were traded lower, overshadowed by the wage protest.

N.Z. Forest Products at 323 c and Tasman Pulp and Paper at 290 c both shed sc. The advance in the price of the shares of P.T.Y. was checked and reversed as some holders liquidated. The fully-paid shares were 15c lower at 275 c and the contributing shares retreated 5c to 95c. Sellers succeeded in lifting the price of Printing and Packaging 6c to 168 c.

Crothall and National Insurance showed gains of 5c each and Claude Neon, which has been more active lately, rose the same amount to 75c. The retailers were easier; Arthur Barnett lost 5c and F.T.C., Haywrights, and N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. were 1c lower.
