FIRE GUTS HAY-SHED
Fire destroyed a hay-shed and about 3000 bales of hay on a farm at Pendarves, near Ashburton, early yesterday morning .
The fire, on Mr C. H. Brand’s property, left only one or two uprights standing. No hay could be salvaged. It was noticed about 3 a.m., but, fanned by strong northwest winds, by the time the Rakaia volunteer brigade arrived there was little to do but stop the fire spreading.
