Peg-pulling parrot

"The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. Nov. 28. A plundering parrot preying on toothbrushes and clothes pegs has been ruffling the feathers of a few housewives at Tawa. Tawa’s health inspector (Mr H. Dudfield) reports that women in the Victory Crescent, Davidson Crescent and Turkington Street area have protested most vehemently against damage to their properties, both inside and out, by this homing cockatoo. “Its favourite diet appears to be toothbrushes and clothes pegs, on the line of course, and it’s not difficult to imagine what happened to the clean washing,” Mr Dudfield reported to the Tawa Borough Council.

A letter has now been sent to the owner of the “predacious parrot” to ensure that the bird is confined to its own backyard.
