Institute of Economic Research (Inc.), has vacancies for two economists for employment either as Senior Research Officer, or as Research Officer. Minimum qualifications are a university degree and proven ability to initiate and execute economic research and, in the case of a senior appointee, ability to supervise junior staff. One of the appointees would be required to devote part of his time to the Institute’s short term economic forecasting, and both would be expected to undertake contract research on occasion. Otherwise appointees would be free to pursue their own research interests, subject to the over-all approval of the Director. Clerical, computing and reference assistance are available. The salary scale for Research Officers is $4814$6034 and that for Senior Research Officers $6132$7174, but a higher ceiling may apply in the case of an exceptional applicant. Superannuation arrangements are on the basis of a 5 per cent employee contribution and a 10 per cent Institute subsidy.
