Kirwee telephones
Sir, —The remainder of the Kirwee telephone exchange is going to be changed to automatic next year, which will be a great advantage. Will those subscribers who are now on the Kirwee exchange be given the choice, as were those who went on to the Rolleston exchange, of having free calling to Christ-church?-—Yours, etc., H. J. OVERTON. West Melton, November 22, 1971.
[Mr H. W. Wilkinson, regionpl engineer for the Post office, replies: “At present all Kirwee subscribers have access to and from the portion of the Christchurch free calling area served by the new Rolleston exchange. This tariff structure will be unchanged by the provision of an automatic exchange at Kirwee. The present subscribers on the Kirwee manual exchange will not be offered further access to the Christchurch free calling area. At a later date, however, free calling will be provided between Kirwee and the areas now served by the Darfield, Hororata, Sheffield, and Springfield exchanges.”]
