Imprisoned Writers Day
Sir, —In London on Monday Imprisoned Writers Day will be commemorated by an observance. A resolution wi 1 be put to those present, including prominent politicians and 'eaders of the arts, demanding the release of writers who are imprisoned, persecuted, jobless, or expelled, whether in Russia, Poland. Czechoslovakia, Spain, Greece, South Africa, or elsewhere. They have one thing in common; they “dared to be a Daniel, dared to have a cause, dared to make it known.” Let us who abuse our news media '••r abuse our leaders through the written word remember then those not so fortunate.— Yours, etc., M. O’NEILL. October 9, 1971.
