PRICE CHANGES LAST WEEK

Brokers close branches (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) PERTH, Oct. 8. Two Sydney stockbroking firms said today that they planned to close their branch offices at Perth. Both have blamed the sharp downturn in the industry in the last year for the closures. The office of Peter Hains and Company will probably close early next week. Ora, Minnett, T. J. Thompson, and Partners plan to stop operating in the middle of the month. Financial observers said that both branches have served mainly as listening posts for the Eastern states but their closure signifies a milestone in the dramatic fall of the importance of Western Australia in .the mining market, and the sick condition of the market generally.'
