Miller leads moto-cross

The New Zealand champion, I. Miller, yesterday afternoon dominated the first two legs of the international moto-cross championships at Oran Park in Sydney.

Miller, riding a Husqvarna 400, won both races by a narrow margin from the British rider, R. Owen (CZ 400). Miller, Owen and Scotland’s J. Aird sprinted away from local opposition in both races. Miller led the first eight-lap leg of the championship from start to finish to win by 2.4 sec from Owen with the Australian international, G. Flood (Husqvarana), third, another 1.4 sec behind. Aird was fourth. Owen established a lap record of Imin 20.6 sec on the 0.85-mile circuit, built especially for the meeting. Miller took the lead from the start in the second race and led by I.Bsec from Owen at the finish, with Aird third.
