Jackson on Palley
The Riccarton jockey, G. Jackson; was engaged yesterday to ride the brilliant Palley in the Spring Handicap at Ashburton tomorrow. He replaces D. Reed, who is out of action with a fractured collar bone, received in a race fall on the first day of the Ashburton meeting. Through this set-back Reed has lost a good chance of landing the winners of the Ashburton T.A.B. double.
If he had been fit Reed would have ridden Hay Burner In the first leg, the Ashburton Cup.
Second win (N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. Waioneke made it two in a row by winning the Edward Watson Hurdle (14f.) at Pakenham on Wednesday. Waioneke was ridden by P. Haitana and started favourite.
