Dollar steady
(N .Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO, September 8. The United States dollar held its ground on the Tokyo exchange market today, some exchange banks continuing to buy dollars to conform to the tightened exchange control. Trading was limited, however, with an estimated s6m changing hands during the morning session at 338.55 yen ' to 338.65 yen, compared with 338.40 to 338.70 yen yesterday. Som e banks bought dollars for delivery today and sold them for delivery tomorrow in dollar-yen "swap” movements, apparently to adjust their daily, dollar position. An estimated $l5 million dollars were traded in movements of this type during the morning session. In Europe, United Press International reported that the value of the dollar inched higher on currency exchanges yesterday, awaiting the outcome of next week’s top level meetings on world monetary problems posed by President Nixon’s new economic policies.
