Parliament’s diary
The Niue Amendment Bill was introduced, read a second time pro forma, and referred to the Island Affairs Committee yesterday. Mr P. Blanchfield (Lab., Westland) tabled a notice of motion expressing dismay that only 880 acres of West Coast forest land was due to be planted this year, and calling upon the Minister of Forests (Mr MacIntyre) to do better. Ministers answered 19 questions. Answers to previous questions were debated for one hour. The tabling of the Lands and Agriculture Committee’s report on the Christchurch City (Reserves) Empowering Bill (No. 2) was interrupted by the dinner adjournment. During the evening Parliament discussed legislation.
