Shop workers congratulated
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sep*. 8. Shop assistants employed by the D.I.C. in Hamilton today were congratulated for not joining their union by the Auckland-based Aircraft Employees’ Association, which sent a telegram to the firm’s manager asking him to convey to the staff its congratulations on their "stand against compulsory unionism.” As part of a reorganisation programme by the Northern Shop Assistants’ Union, 200 D.I.C. employees have been given until tomorrow to become financial members. The association is circulating in Auckland a petition against compulsory unionism on behalf of the promoters in Christchurch. A spokesman for the association said today that signatures were being obtained slowly.
